The story itself was pretty good, nothing special but it kept me interesting. So creepy and weird, I just wanted to know more. Really caught my attention and drew me into the book. Does anyone know what is going on with this? Last I recall this was meant to be an ongoing series but I don't think we've heard much of anything since 2015. I am pretty surprised to learn that there is still only 1 volumes out. I read it forever ago when it first came out and then re-read it for this. I have to say that I really enjoyed Wytches.

Def a recommended setting for this book! Hah Realistic dialogue between characters/good characterizationĭisclaimer - I read most of this while in my tent solo camping during a couple days hunting. What a bitch, haha.ĭope art, if a bit messy. But I didn't see the twist with the Mom being the original pledger coming. That being said, I thought the bit where she just sprayed the damn things with the pledge water was kinda lame. I hate when comics just seem to fizzle out out the end. There's not much in the way of loose ends everything comes to a satisfying ending. The conclusion is well done, with that feeling of anxiety persisting to the end, a culminating into a nice bang of a finale. there's just this overarching feeling of tension/anxiety.

Like /u/pocketmegar said in his comment, "There are no artificial "jump scares", just an uncomfortable and eerie feeling that follows the reader throughout the story." When I came upon that part is his comment, basically went in my head- "Yep! that there is Wytches in a nutshell."īetween the art, the characters' worries and anxieties, the pacing, etc. Speaking of tense moments.the beauty of Wytches is in its ability to just become one long, tense om beginning to end. But for the most part, the splashes of watercolor, sharp highlighting and panel composition make for some tense moments. There is a rare moment that it does get a bit messy/hard to read. Like the classic, original Alien movie, the a strength in the art of Wytches is dark and leaves a good bit to the readers imagination. Its really dark and there are splashes of water color everywhere quite dramatic. I can understand that, but I think it only adds to the story. I've seen some criticism of it, for being too messy. The scene jumps around quite sporadically, but the story doesn't get hard to follow. Not really any lulls, or superfluous bits of story. I Really didn't notice so much on my first read, but just flipping through the pages, in preparation for writing this, you can tell that a lot of thought was put into the pacing. Many comics seem to suffer from corny dialogue and story elements being explained by characters awkwardly talking to themselves, but Wytches does a good job of moving the story forward succinctly, free of those faults. The writing/dialogue is pretty damn good.
